Distillery Manager/Site Operations Manager, Malt Distilling

Diageo is the name behind many of the world's best-loved premium drinks brands, including Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, J&B, Captain Morgan, José Cuervo and Tanqueray. We currently employ over 4500 colleagues across almost 50 sites in Scotland and our brands account for over 20% of Scotland’s food and drink exports.

Our Malt Distilling Group covers nearly 30 distilleries throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland making whisky brands including Talisker, Dalwhinnie, Oban and Bushmills. Our Malt distilling business has seen unprecedented change and demand over recent years. As part of our growth strategy and the continued increase in demand on production, we need to appoint a number of new Distillery Managers/Site Operations Managers to help lead key production sites in Speyside.

The Role

Your key responsibility will be the leadership and management of a cross-functional production team covering quality, risk, process support and laboratory services. You will have accountability for ensuring site production satisfies or improves on budget, volume, cost and efficiency targets.

Further responsibilities include:

Lead, motivate and inspire your team ensuring that you create a positive and performance driven team environment that results in excellence. As part of that, you will actively participate in and support strategic initiatives designed to meet future business requirements and World Class practices.

· Continuously promote a positive working environment, which provides opportunities for the development of strong working relationships, internal and external partnerships, and cross-functional working across the business group.

· Setting objective standards to ensure that the sites achieves the quality assurance required by the business, and manage the overall strategy for quality, C&E compliance, security and local incident planning.

· Ensuring effective liaison with relevant agencies relating to quality, risk and environment to ensure compliance with external and internal Diageo standards.

The Candidate

You will be educated to graduate or equivalent level in a relevant scientific discipline and be highly IT literate. A broad knowledge and understanding of all the elements of business risk gained through relevant experience is essential including quality, health and safety and environment. You should possess process plant/engineering experience with significant management experience in an operational and / or specialist environment.

A proven track record in people management with experience in developing and working in a partnership / service orientated environment is critical. We are looking for people who will inspire and lead their time while also carving out opportunities for growth in both their team and themselves.
