This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative person to join a unique school of Art and Design based in the centre of Moscow that has become a leading institution for design studies in Russia.

The BA (Hons) Product Design course is at its fifth year and it has seen dramatic changes and achievements during this time: it was the first Russian course exhibiting during Milan design week in 2008, it has 2 D&AD awards on its curriculum and now has important market players as project partners.

As a tutor you will be working under the supervision and guidance of the Course Director. We are looking for a talented member of staff capable of contributing to further growth and development of the course in Russian and international contexts.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The ability to deliver a full spectrum of teaching & learning experience for students: lectures, seminars, practical workshops, demonstrations, individual guidance and tutorials;
  • To engage in course administration as required, this includes assessment & examination procedures, course planning and monitoring of student progress and performance;
  • To support students as a personal tutor and to offer pastoral & academic support;
  • To maintain a high level of quality and student achievement across the course;
  • To liaise with other members of technical and administrational staff;
  • To support open days and external promotion.

Essential Skills

  • A balanced record of experience between academic and professional practice;
  • Clear and open minded vision of the world across different cultures;
  • MA level education within the field of product development/industrial design/strategic design with some previous experience in working in academic context;
  • Proficient use of major CAD packages (for surface, solid and mesh modelling);
  • Ability to create mock ups/prototypes;
  • Ability to self initiate activities, pro activeness and energetic personality;
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to organize and deliver Critical and Cultural Studies modules;
  • Research area interest in the field of digital manufacturing and parametric modelling;
  • Knowledge of other languages;
  • Previous experience of working abroad.

Salary rate: 35,000-45,000 GBP, depending on your grade and experience. Please note that the income tax in Russia is just 13% when you become a tax resident after 180 days spent in the country. The School provides visa support, medical insurance, air tickets and helps with finding accommodation.

Place of work: Moscow, Russia
The School is located close to the city centre, being just 1 stop from Red Square and within close proximity to several metro lines.

Start date: If you are successful you will be expected to be settled in Moscow before the start of a new academic year (14 September, 2012) and suggest that you aim to arrive at the beginning of September.
