British Council , Literature Adviser

Special focus on working with literature in translation, in particular from Turkey, and with the London Book Fair Market Focus cultural programme

One-year fixed term contract until June 2013

£25,000 per annum plus £3,300 London Market Allowance per annum

The Literature Department of the British Council works with writers and literature professionals to promote international collaboration and professional exchange. We build relationships between reading, writing and publishing communities in the UK, and those around the world.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who can use their experience in literature project management and their network of contacts in the UK literary constituency to develop and work on international cultural relations projects.
You will have: a graduate or postgraduate qualification in literature or equivalent experience; a track record in strategic thinking and relationship management; excellent literature project management and team working skills; a good knowledge of contemporary British literature and knowledge of and contacts with the UK literature constituency, and preferably knowledge of contemporary Turkey and Turkish literature.
