Consultancy - Emergency Preparedness

CARE International UK (CIUK) has a mandate to provide timely and effective response to CARE members in times of emergency which includes supporting response to major crises through high quality fundraising, communications and advocacy (strategic pillar 1 of the CIUK Humanitarian Strategy), as well as the deployment of staff on the Roster for Emergency Deployment (RED). Such timely and effective emergency response requires coordination between teams and excellent decision-making and communication between staff members to ensure the efficacy of CIUK’s response.

CIUK seeks an experienced facilitator to design and facilitate an exercise that tests CIUK’s emergency response capacity to an emerging crisis through a simulation, reviews the written emergency response protocols and examines how lessons learned from previous emergency responses could be used to enhance CIUK’s capacity to manage an emergency response.

The successful candidate will have:

* Practical experience and knowledge of sudden on-set emergency response and large INGOs;
* Experience of developing and running emergency simulation activities for INGO head offices, as well as debriefings / emergency preparedness planning;
* A good knowledge and understanding of existing debates and recent literature in the field;
* Fluency in English is essential, as are high quality writing and editing skills.
