GRANTS OFFICER , Plan International in Kenya

Plan is seeking to recruit for the position of Grants Officer. The successful candidates will support grants development and portfolio management for the realization of an increased grants income in line with resource mobilization strategy and targets as set out in the Country Strategic Plan. The positions report to the Grants Manager whilst working closely with the Country Office and Program Unit teams.

Key responsibilities •Drafting quality proposals that are program-led and based on the CSP and PULTPs and in line with donor requirements. •Support program and Program Unit teams in grants narrative and financial reporting •Maintenance of grants systems and processes •Support budget monitoring and tracking: Undertake analysis of grants budget reports to avail management information

Dealing with Problems •A high level of coordination and planning skills is essential when working with program staff at PU and Country Office in the development of concept papers and proposals, including reporting for various grants funded by different donors; •A good command of the English language and strong communication skills as well as reasonable negotiation skills are essential;
•Strong analytical skills are required to process program and financial related information including review of financial and narrative reports; •Production of expenditure and income analysis for all the grants requiring a high degree of accuracy.
•Coordination of multiple projects, funded by different donors and with different requirements; •Grants department normally has to adhere to strict deadlines and ensure quality standards for proposals, concept papers and reports. The position holder requires the ability to work efficiently with different teams and ability to withstand pressure of meeting deadlines while ensuring high quality outputs/standards.

Communications and Working Relationships The post holder will be required to support in maintaining and developing a range of working relationships that includes donors, implementing partners and other development organizations. Effective working relationships within Plan are critical for this position, including National Offices, International Headquarters, Regional Offices, other Country Offices, and with Program Unit Managers, and other staff in Kenya. Educational Qualifications and Experience •Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Marketing or equivalent •2- 3 years hands-on experience in project management preferably in an NGO set-up •Experience in marketing is desirable •Proven writing skills Key Skills •Good communication as well as excellent writing skills •Proficiency in English language •Coordination – ability to multi-task and deal with different funding streams •Proposal development, Interpretation and analytical skills more so on financial information •Planning skills •Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment •Proven negotiation and influencing skills •Computer Skills – especially MS applications and data management
