Job Description:
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is a worldwide leader in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission and one of the leading providers of care and treatment to people affected by HIV/AIDS. In Rwanda, EGPAF is funded through USAID and works with the health institutions and partners to support strengthened and integrated HIV/AIDS service del ivery. EGPAF supports clinical services at 45 health facilities in the East Province and Kigali city .
EGPAF would like to recru it a dynamic person to fill the short term position (7 months) of: IT officer

Job summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, the IT officer will manage all
information Technology equipment, systems, policies , and procedures at the Rwanda office.

Key responsibilities:
•Responsible for prov iding technical support to Rwanda office users in regard to IT systems
and equipment; research technical support issues, work with vendors and EGPAF HQ to
resolve these.
•Ensure that all users' virus software is up to date.
•Manages system back up administration including storage and retrieval on a daily basis.
•Responsible for managing Rwanda office network and server on a daily basis, including to
ensure system stability in order to prevent lapses in network serv ice.
•Working with EGPAF HQ, establishes new user e-mail and network account set-up.
•Outlook administration including user 10 maintenance, distributions lists, and troubleshooting.
•Identify areas where users can be trained to improve basic computer literacy and assist users
as needed and organizes needs assessments and trainings to build capacity.
•Orientates all new staff to EGPAF IT equ ipment and systems .
•Work closely with the Procurement officer to ensure all equipment in the office is properly maintained and functioning well.
•Sets up and configures end user desktops and laptop computers.
•Timely replacement of equipment and computers in line with estimated longevity of spare parts and the Computer Retirement Policy.
•Manages all issues surrounding LCD projectors and modems to ensure offices and department have the required items and adhere to the establi shed pol icies.
•Ensures Internet in office is operational with less than 1% downtime, an appropriate internet solution is implemented to ensure adequate speeds, and liaises with vendor regarding all
Internet equipment and systems issues.
•Work closely with program/Operations/M&Estaff to support iT systems and equipment in health fac ilities including IQchart, antiviruses and other IT related issues.
•Assesses IT policies and procedures on an on-going basis to identify and propose new policies or changes as needed, in addition to monitoring the implementation of existing IT policies to ensure they are being properly adhered to .

Required Qualifications, skills and abilities:
-Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or commensurate experience .
-Current relevant technical certifications (prefer MCSE or A+ certification) .
-Three years of LAN support experience.
-Three years of LAN, e-mail and file/directory services administration.
-Three years of user support experience including PC hardware and software troubleshooting .
-Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in both Kinyarwanda and English
-Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
-Windows (2000 and later) server expertise, Windows XP, VISTA,Windows] client configuration expertise
-MS Exchange, Outlook and Office (2000 and later) deployment and administration
-Familiarity with basic system administration tools and processes
-Fundamental understanding of operating systems
-Broad knowledge of computer hardware, network operations and maintenance
-CD and DVD ROM technology; Telecommunications systems; Emerging technology trends
-Focus on results for the clients and respond positively to feedback.
-Consistently approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
-Demonstrate openness to change and ability to manage complexity.

Status:
Short term contract for seven months .
