Web-editor Radio Dabanga and Radio Tamazuj
Period: starting June 11th until the 31st of December (with possibility to extend)

Background:
Free Press Unlimited works towards the development of independent media where they are needed the most: in conflict regions, in countries with repressive regimes and in countries en route to democracy. So that there too, people can have free access to information and everyone’s voice can be heard. Free Press Unlimited supports Radio Dabanga and Radio Tamazuj.
Radio Dabanga is a radio station that was founded in 2008 with radio programmes made by Darfuri for Darfuri, with the central desk in the Netherlands. With over two million listeners in Darfur, Radio Dabanga is a major success. Radio Tamazuj is a new radio station founded in 2012 with radio programmes made by Sudanese and South Sudanese from the border areas between Sudan and South Sudan, for the people in those border areas. Radio Tamazuj is rapidly evolving and gaining audience.
To inform the international media, diplomatic community, and humanitarian organizations, both Radio Dabanga and Radio Tamazuj have an English website with daily news and background information for an international audience. For the English websites we are looking for a Full-time web-editor who works closely together with the Sudanese and South Sudanese colleagues at our office in Hilversum.
What we expect:
excellent English writing skills (preferably native)
strong Arabic reading and speaking skills are required, strong Arabic writing skills not necessary
basic understanding of web-editing and writing for the web
able to work in CMS for adding news to website
competent in social media (facebook and twitter)
basic knowledge of and interest in Darfur , Sudan and South Sudan
interest in journalism
professionalism
cultural sensitivity
ability to work independently
ability to do independent research and write in depth articles
only candidates with work and residency permits for the Netherlands/ EU can be considered
What we offer:
a full time position as web-editor for Radio Dabanga and Radio Tamazuj
working hours: 38 hours divided over six days a week from Sunday to Monday in the late afternoon and evening hours
an international environment where you work closely together with Sudanese and South Sudanese journalists
guidance and coaching by international staff of Radio Dabanga and Radio Tamazuj
