ActionAid International Consortium Manager – NARRI: DIPECHO VI Bangladesh

ActionAid International (AAI) is a unique partnership of people striving towards its mission of working “with poor and excluded people to eradicate poverty and injustice” in over 50 countries in Asia, Africa, Australia, the Americas and Europe.

ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) in partnership with seven other INGOs (Oxfam GB, Islamic Relief Worldwide, Concern Universal, Plan International, Concern Worldwide, CARE International and Solidarity International) has initiated a concerted Disaster Risk Reduction(DRR) and Humanitarian Assistance program under one umbrella named NARRI (National Alliance for Risk Reduction Initiative) to ensure different development actors work together for better synergy and effectiveness from local to national level to enhance the capacities of communities and institutions to overcome various natural disasters. Funded by DG-ECHO, AAB anchors the secretariat headed by the Consortium Manager who will coordinate the work between these INGOs and ensure compliance to donor and effective implementation of the program.

We seek a suitable candidate for the position of Consortium Manager

Major responsibilities

•Act as an interface and link between the six partners and the donor agency; engage in all the strategic directions and policy with the steering committee led by the ActionAid Country Director.

•Coordinate and liaise with the consortium members to align their individual plans to the overall programme plans, to enable a cross organizational culture of effective learning and sharing.

•Explore the scope for possible partnerships, on a regular basis, between the consortium and various governmental and non-governmental organizations, for effective implementation and enhanced sustainability of the project.

•Be actively involved in preparation and approval of contingency plans to ensure that emergencies are accounted for within the process of the project implementation.

•Ensure the action plans closely conforms to the project budget, assist the finance manager in preparation of the consolidated financial report as pert the contract.

•Work on the monitoring and evaluation framework and systems and processes along with the consortium partners and the M&E manager.

•Ensure that the crosscutting issues (gender, disability, ethnic consideration, etc.) are prioritized while implementing project action plan.


Person Specification

We seek a candidate with a minimum 7 years of project/consortium project management experience related to DRR and emergencies along with a post graduate degree in the relevant field. The candidate must have excellent knowledge about disaster risk management and working in an ECHO funded project. Whilst experience in dealing with donor accountability, managing diverse teams, coordinating partner organizations is a must, excellent finance and communication skills in English is required. Proficiency in Bangla Language will be an asset. She/he should excel on writing proposals/reports and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate must be aligned to ActionAid values, with ability to work in sensitive, challenging and multicultural work environment.

This is a senior post reporting to the Country Director of AAB and is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with frequent travel to the field and externally. The secretariat Manager will be working closely with the member of the NARRI steering group. The post is offered under Action Aid’s International terms and conditions for eighteen (18) months contract. Duration of the contract may be extended subject to extension of the project.
