DRG has been retained by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) to assist in their search for JDC’s next CEO and Executive Vice President.

The CEO position at JDC represents an exciting and rare opportunity to lead the world’s premier Jewish humanitarian assistance organization. With a storied history since its founding in 1914, JDC today has an operating budget of $350M and works in more than 70 countries, including Israel, to alleviate hunger and hardship, rescue Jews in danger, create lasting connections to Jewish life, and provide immediate relief and long-term development support for victims of natural and man-made disasters.

Working with a talented staff and dedicated volunteer board, the new CEO will ensure that JDC maintains its high level of creativity and excellence in current programs while also considering how best to develop its mission-based programs for the future. The CEO must be able to listen effectively to the concerns and needs of disparate global stakeholders and partners. S/he will lead a strategic conversation toward developing new directions, priorities and operations for the organization as it confronts changes in global economies, politics, and philanthropies, which will affect its work in the future.

JDC is a large, complex organization, requiring a CEO with superb management skills. Candidates must have experience successfully leading similarly large and complex organizations. Success with fund development and experience working effectively with, or serving on, a large and sophisticated volunteer board of directors will be integral to the CEO’s success. The CEO will also play a very visible global role, serving as a leading voice for the organization.
