Headquarters-Based Consultant (Pension Specialist)

The International Monetary Fund seeks a qualified candidate with proven expertise on pension systems to fill a vacancy in the Expenditure Policy Division of the Fiscal Affairs Department as a headquarters-based consultant in Washington D.C. for an initial period of two years.

The selected candidate will contribute to the analysis of the design and fiscal sustainability of pension systems, both generally and for specific countries, with the goal of producing policy-oriented analytical work on pension issues and assisting member countries with the reform of their pension systems-including through the provision of technical assistance. The ability to advise in other areas of expenditure policy would be an advantage. The selected candidate may be required to travel frequently.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Masters or (preferably) a Ph.D. degree in Economics, and have strong background in macroeconomics, public finance, and pension systems, with 4 to 8 years relevant experience and a proven record of policy-oriented and empirical research on social security issues. The selected candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English; ability to work in Spanish and/or French would be desirable.
