Oxfam Head of Gulf Partnerships

The Arab Gulf is playing an increasingly influential role in global development assistance. Oxfam wants to explore new opportunities in this region to work with institutions – governments, foundations, businesses, and others – who share our values and commitment to poverty eradication. We’re searching for a high calibre, highly-motivated new business development manager who will design and drive our resource mobilisation strategy in the Arab Gulf over the next three years.

The role
To do this effectively means designing a solid business development strategy – one that will not only build upon our existing relationships across the region, but help to secure new opportunities – particularly in charitable business trading – to drive growth and firmly establish the Oxfam brand in the region. That said, you’ll do more than influence strategy design. You’ll take it through to implementation; overseeing the development of business propositions, qualifying new opportunities, and forging mutually beneficial partnerships, and most importantly, engaging directly with senior representatives from a range of Gulf institutions – governments, charitable foundations, private sector companies, and others.. And by building on Oxfam’s profile, driving new income streams and meeting challenging performance targets, you’ll soon make your mark at the heart of a respected global agency.

What we’re looking for
This is a challenging role and to succeed you’ll need to be a seasoned new business development specialist, relationship manager, or marketer. A dynamic, creative, self-starter with a passion for social enterprise and a successful record in building strategic partnerships.. Knowledge and experience of working in the Arab Gulf are essential. Fluency in Arabic would be a real advantage. Whilst you’ll know how to develop and implement strategies, you’ll also understand the cultural, political, and social context for business development. More than this, you’ll bring an innovative approach, real strategic vision, and a good understanding of long-term development programming combined with extensive knowledge of the external donor environment. A team player, with excellent judgement, you’re also able to work effectively on your own.

About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. And it’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. At Oxfam we believe that with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
