The World Bank Group’s Investment Climate Department (CIC) assists governments of developing countries and transition economies in improving their business environment, both at economy-wide and industry-specific level. In close cooperation with other teams across the World Bank Group, CIC provides advisory and technical assistance services aimed at facilitating reforms that foster open, productive, and competitive markets and unlock sustainable private investments in sectors that contribute to growth and poverty reduction.

CIC is seeking a highly motivated, creative micro-economist with strong research and analytical skills, a very good knowledge of the literature in the private sector development area, a keen sense of policy and strategy, and strong writing and presentation skills. The economist will report to the Director of CIC.

This position requires an advanced educational background, experience working in complex, multi-sector teams; excellent client relationship management and leadership skills and the willingness to travel internationally. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience. Our working language is English; additional language skills are an advantage.
