Technical Advisor I, (Neglected Tropical Diseases Technical Advisor) in Washington, DC or Accra, Ghana

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Technical Advisor I, (Neglected Tropical Diseases Technical Advisor) in Washington, DC or Accra, Ghana.

Position Description:

Participate in the development and review of country level work plans to ensure country level programs are in complying with Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) programming guidelines and best practices.

  • Ensuring that the FHI360 capacity building TA in supply chain management, M&E and financial management are in compliance with NTD programming guidelines and protocols and contribute to best practices.
  • Build capacity to streamline compliance to published WHO guidelines and promote conformity of best practices.
  • Participate in international NTD working groups and attend regional meetings in Africa.
  • Liaison with the USAID’s ENVISION program to ensure compliance with USAID’s NTD Program M&E database reporting requirement.
  • Liaison with the ENVISION Project and other USAID implementing partners to ensure consistency with SCM capacity building strategies, coordination with drug donation programs and annual drug procurement needs.
  • Coordinate Technical Assistance requests with the Technical Assistance Facility within the ENVISION Project.
  • Liaison with USAID Technical staff.
  • Keep up to date on the latest international guidelines as they pertain to the NTDs covered in the portfolio.
  • Work with sub grantees and USAID team to document best practices and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of program reports.

Minimum Requirements:

MS/MA/MPH and 5-9 years relevant experience in NTD preferred or related international public health program management experience in developing countries.

  • Knowledge of NTD program management, guidelines, methods, and evidence for effectiveness in African setting preferred. Experience working and providing technical assistance to programs in developing countries.
  • Ability to speak publicly and represent the program in meetings with donors, government officials, and regional meetings. Experience collaborating with multiple partners e.g. MOH, donors, NGOs, WHO.
  • Ability to set and manage competing priorities involving multiple projects.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed, largely to countries in West Africa.
  • Fluent written and oral in English and French required.
