Administration Officer, Refugee Services (Maternity Cover)

The Red Cross is the largest voluntary humanitarian organisation in the world. It promotes humanitarian values and provides emergency help to people in short term crisis in the UK and overseas. Within the UK, the British Red Cross operates through 30,000 volunteers and 3,000 staff.
Our orientation project in Portsmouth and Southampton supports asylum seekers and refugees in accessing local health, welfare and legal services, and social networks, in order to help them settle and integrate into local communities and live more independently. Drop-in sessions are run at both centres, and complemented by an appointments system. Clients work with their caseworker to agree a casework plan to address their individual needs and help build their knowledge, confidence and independence. The project is primarily delivered by a team of volunteers recruited and managed by the Project Co-ordinators, with many volunteers drawn from local asylum seeker and refugee communities.

Overall Purpose of the Post
