The IRC has a rich history of assisting refugees to apply for U.S. resettlement, from its founding in 1933 to help vulnerable individuals escape Nazi-occupied Europe, to pioneering the Joint Voluntary Agency which assisted Indochinese refugees for 22 years, to operations in Croatia, Sierra Leone and Sudan. Over the years, IRC has processed some half million refugees worldwide for U.S. resettlement.

Based in Bangkok with four field offices in Thailand and Malaysia, the IRC Resettlement Support Center (IRC-RSC) assists persons throughout East Asia seeking permanent resettlement in the United States. Operating in fifteen countries, the RSC prepares refugee applications for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, provides information to resettlement agencies about arriving refugees and offers cultural orientation training to those refugees bound for the U.S.

Scope:

The Case Processing Manager (CPM) is responsible for the oversight of the Case Processing Department workload as well as the supervision of Kuala Lumpur based Case Processing staff. This position is based in the Kuala Lumpur Field Office and will primarily focus on working with the Post-DHS functions within the larger RSC team. The CPM is responsible for communicating with other Case Processing teams as well as the Field Team and external partner agencies to ensure timely information- sharing and follow-up. This position reports to the Deputy Director for Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily management of Case Processing staff and workload in the Kuala Lumpur Field Office
  • Ensures workload completion and timely submission of reports
  • Communicates challenges and issues in a timely manner to supervisors
  • Ensures professional coordination and communication, both internally and externally
  • Liaise and coordinate with partner agencies and refugee representatives to ensure efficient processing of refugee applications
  • Responsible for initial and ongoing training of Case Processing staff
  • Conduct ongoing, mid-year and annual performance management evaluations
  • Work closely with CP Coordinator/Deputy CP Coordinator and other CPMs to develop departmental goals, policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree
  • Experience in refugee processing and/or refugee resettlement strongly preferred
  • Minimum two years program management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively with partners and colleagues in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to lead staff and promote productivity in a pleasant work environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; comfortable multi-tasking
  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Burmese language and/or Burmese ethnic minorities’ languages desirable
