Cost Benefit Analysis Study for Sustainable Land Management in Lesotho

Cost Benefit Analysis Study for Sustainable Land Management in Lesotho

The TerrAfrica Partnership, a regional initiative to enable governments of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), the international development community and other global, regional and national stakeholders to better coordinate efforts to up-scale the financing and mainstreaming of effective and efficient country driven sustainable land management (SLM), undertook to pursue a programmatic approach to scaling up SLM, in response to the problem of land degradation in Africa.

Although the TerrAfrica partnership has made significant strides towards supporting scaling up of SLM initiatives in the countries, there still remains a gap in terms of the actual benefits and costs a country incurs in undertaking such activities. This knowledge is therefore critical in order for policy makers to make informed decisions when undertaking such initiatives.

It is against this background that the TerrAfrica partnership seeks to support Lesotho in undertaking a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) studies of SLM.

The overall objective of this assignment is to generate economic and social evidence as well as stir processes that will improve the understanding of SLM interventions in order to rationalize decision-making and resource allocation by the government of Lesotho.

The expected commencement date for performance of the Contract is October 2012 but the actual commencement date will be determined by an Administrative order within 7 days from the last signature of the Contract and will be issued by the Contracting Authority.

Applications must be received not later than Wednesday 26 September 2012 and should be addressed to:
