ABOUT SOLIDARIDAD
Solidaridad is an international network organisation operating from four continents and offices in 24 countries with more than 25 years of experience in creating fair and sustainable supply chains from producer to consumer. Solidaridad believes that fair and sustainable trade reduces poverty and helps to preserve people's environment.
Solidaridad develops business concepts in developing countries and supports companies’ CSR initiatives by linking them to suppliers. We also support marketing and communication on CSR to inform our partners and the public.
Solidaridad trains farmers in techniques to produce more with less, provide capacity building for producer organizations and enable them to access knowledge, inputs, finance and markets. We develop certification and round table initiatives for sustainable and ethical production and assist producers and companies to reach these certification standards.

Solidaridad is an international network organization with nine Regional Expertise Centres (RECs) worldwide. These regional expertise centres are clustered into four continental level organisations: Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Each continental organisation is a subsidiary of the Solidaridad Network, which is registered as a foundation in the Netherlands.

Solidaridad South and South East Asia, which is headquartered in Hong Kong and India is rapidly expanding its work in Bangladesh. For Bangladesh we are looking for:

Position: Country Manager

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Reports to: Managing Director, Solidaridad South & South East Asia, Hong Kong

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Programmes: ?The Country Manager is overall responsible for the development and implementation of programmes in Bangladesh. S/he is responsible for continuously developing new programmes in Bangladesh under close supervision of the Managing Director and within Solidaridad global policy framework. S/he is responsible for organising and sending monthly financial and programme reports to the regional headquarters. The position is though located in Dhaka, the position may need to work in other programmes in other countries of Asia as well.

Administration: The Country Manager is responsible to handle legal affairs of Solidaridad in Bangladesh. S/he is responsible for setting up Solidaridad’s agreed financial and HR systems, comply with all legal requirements necessary for Solidaridad’s operation in Bangladesh, report about all key developments to the regional headquarters.

Fund raising and programme development: The Country Manager will be responsible for generating financial resources to expand Solidaridad programme in the country. S/he will lliaison with partner organizations, participate in working committees and conferences in the region to remain abreast of developing initiatives, build the profile of the organization and identify potential funding sources.
• Communication: The Country Manager is first responsible for communication to media, government, donors, businesses and other agencies within the country. The Manager will represent Solidaridad in all key events and meetings.

PROFILE OF THE COUNTRY MANAGER
The Country Manager needs to be an experienced and dynamic administrator with at least 10 years senior level relevant experience in Bangladesh. He/she should be able to facilitate a process of change and keeps people and programs focused on how Solidaridad can make a difference.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Post Graduate or equivalent in related field of Social Science (Economics, Sociology, International Relations, Business Administration or Development Studies);
• At least 10 years working experience in the development of sustainable production chains, food security and rural livelihoods and/or community development in Bangladesh.
• Should be an excellent communicator (internally within the organization and externally with the stakeholders) and should have fetish to meet deadlines and promises. These two skills are non-negotiable in Solidaridad.
• Have excellent contacts with the broad network of NGO’s, government authorities, embassies and trading companies in Bangladesh
• Have good understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable development from the perspective of agro-business.
• Proven fund raising skills with very high level of experience in writing successful and large project proposals. Should have good networking relationship with donor agencies operational in Bangladesh.
• An excellent team player and understand the way of balancing independent functioning with organisational management structure. S/he would be the protector and guard of organisational values in Bangladesh.
