Country NTD Managers Sightsavers International Guinea-Conakry, South Sudan, Zambia, Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria

Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes and where visually impaired people participate equally in society. Each year, we improve the lives of millions of people in the poorest parts of the world.

Country NTD Managers
Two-year fixed term contracts
Cameroon, Guinea-Conakry, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan & Zambia
For more than 60 years, Sightsavers has been forging alliances and partnerships across Africa and Asia to treat over 200 million people with potentially blinding conditions. Our long experience has led us to set two ambitious, but achievable, goals to fast track the elimination of onchocerciasis and trachoma– two neglected tropical diseases that are among the leading causes of blindness in the communities we support. You will be central to the delivery of these exciting and far-reaching goals.
Reporting directly to the Country Director, you will lead all aspects of NTD programme management for your location: defining targets, guiding colleagues and providing technical support to ensure an integrated approach to eliminating these devastating diseases.
Much of your time will be spent shaping strategy and scaling up mass drug administration activity, though this is very much a hands-on role in which you will provide constant and comprehensive input to country teams. At the same time, you will continually monitor and report on activity, whilst forging productive relationships with wide-ranging partners, including other NGOs.
This exceptionally rewarding and responsible position demands significant experience of strategic programme development and technical knowledge of at least one neglected tropical disease. Equally, you will be well versed in all aspects of financial management, the supply chain, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation, and will combine an extremely analytical approach with impressive interpersonal and training skills.

Closing date: Midday on Friday, 28 September 2012.
In line with our commitment to build local experience, Sightsavers will not be able to support candidates in obtaining work permits. As an equal opportunities employer we actively encourage applications from all sections of the community. Qualified people living with a disability are particularly encouraged to apply.
