TEAM PURPOSE: Enabling Oxfam to communicate in the most inspiring, creative and cost-effective way, by combining imaginative ideas; knowledge of Oxfam's work; most appropriate media and by making connections between Oxfam's work and supporters
 
JOB PURPOSE: To provide inspiring creative direction that ensures Oxfam's communications achieve their objectives and deliver a consistently engaging experience for all audiences

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive creative output to ensure compelling, high-impact creative work that builds support, drives the brand and furthers the strategic goals of the organisation
  • Work with Comms teams, especially Inhouse, Digital Comms Team and Stories, Film and Photography Team to deliver cutting edge creativity and ensure brand cohesion across all media (print, online and video)
  • Work with senior creatives to ensure a high level of creativity, industry knowledge and digital expertise within the studio and other creative/ production teams
  • Work with the Brand Manager to ensure our communications leverage the power of our brand and contribute to its ongoing success.
  • Sign off concepts and final creative work produced by internal teams and ensure a high level of creative collaboration with external agencies to harness their expertise and share learning.
  • Work with Head of Inhouse and Inhouse management team to identify and work towards a vision for the creative team; support all teams involved with producing creative comms to achieve and maintain high creative standards.
  • Provide consistent, professional client care through strategic cross-departmental negotiation, project management and problem solving
  • Lead on delivering high quality creative solutions for communications projects as needed, typically those that are innovative, complex and/or require significant inter-team working
  • Maintain a high level of creative, industry, and technical expertise
  • Encourage and promote a high level of creative literacy across the organisation
  • Work with Oxfam International Brand Manager and Oxfam GB Brand Manager to ensure global identity is implemented to guidelines


Skills and Competence

Essential:
  • Proven experience as a creative director or senior designer/copywriter
  • Strong awareness of creative and brand trends/issues in commercial and charity sectors
  • Powerful ability to guide and inspire creative teams on individual jobs while also steering the big picture of Oxfam's communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and pitching skills
  • Strong people skills: empathy, diplomacy, an understanding of client care and ability to encourage collaborative ways of working
  • Proven project management skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Well-developed leadership skills and an ability to think strategically
Desirable:
  • Understanding of development and aid issues and a commitment to Oxfam's work.
  • Good print and digital production knowledge.
  • Experience of working in both an agency and in an internal creative team
OTHER:
  • Post holders will be required to work regularly with VDUs
  • Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas (usually for not more than four weeks at one time) for the purposes of gathering materials and/or staff training, and consultancy.
