Dance Theatre of Harlem Marketing Associate

The Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) is seeking an experienced, proactive, and solution-oriented individual to serve as the Marketing Associate reporting directly to the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and the Marketing Consultant. The Marketing Associate will play an integral role in the development of complex marketing strategies and the execution of comprehensive plans to achieve DTH’s targeted marketing goals and to build, promote and enhance the DTH brand. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively managing and meticulously tracking the progress of all marketing projects against deadlines maintained in a calendar.
  • Executing day-to-day marketing responsibilities as planned for the DTH Company while on tour and for the New York Season, the School, Adult and Open Classes, as well as any additional DTH performances or events.
  • Working closely with internal staff such as Development Directors, and the School Director, as well as external Public Relations consultants, designers, printers, and other vendors to ensure that materials are provided as needed and projects are completed on-time and either on, or under budget.
  • Proactively developing and executing DTH communications including printed and electronic newsletters, e-blasts, collateral materials, direct mailings, videos, etc.
  • Overseeing data collection and import at all entry and touch points for DTH including the front desk, the School, and at all DTH performances and special events in New York and on tour.
  • Continuously maintaining and updating the DTH database from which all communications and events are created, sent, tracked and analyzed.
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of a group sales program for the New York Season, which will include extensively researching and prospecting for new group leads, overseeing a team of interns and volunteers to help with outreach and follow-up, building comprehensive experience packages for groups who attend a New York performance, and securing and many group sales as possible for the NY Season.
  • Working closely the Archives & Alumni Liaison to maximize and manage on-line presence and marketing efforts through the DTH website and various social media outlets.

The candidate should have 2-4 years of substantive experience in marketing and communications, preferable for nonprofit organizations; strong oral, written language and project management skills, sharp intellect; E-communications and social media savvy, ability to produce high quality content under deadline; detailed oriented and good editing skills; solid computer and internet skills – familiarity with Microsoft Office, events management software, and social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter & YouTube; and ability to work with wide range of people at the grassroots, corporate and high end patron levels. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and an interest/knowledge arts education, or the performing arts is an plus.
