General Clerk (Temporary, Intermitted)

The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking an individual for the position of temporary General Clerk.

NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

Qualifications Required:
NOTE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST ADDRESS EACH SELECTION CRITERION DETAILED BELOW WITH SPECIFIC AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION SUPPORTING EACH ITEM. Items 1- 5 are ALL REQUIRED
1. Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
2. Experience: Two years of general clerical duties in an office environment responsible for data capturing, filing including experience working in a financial office is required.
3. Language: English level IV(Fluent) reading/writing/speaking. (This will be tested)
4. Knowledge:
- General office knowledge in office administration is required.
5. Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer services skills is required.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite 2007 is required. (Word and Excel will be tested)


Job Specification

Basic Function of Position:
The incumbent serves under the direction of the Supervisor in charge, the incumbent performs a variety of substantive office administrative duties. These duties include serving as a switchboard receptionist, filing, archiving, collecting and distribution of mail, preparing spreadsheets and reports, visa services, ordering stationary and shredding. Assist with other clerical and administrative duties as may be required.
