Team Leader – Reproductive Health Project in Nepal

We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Team Leader in Nepal to work on new and potential programmes on sexual, reproductive, maternal, and child health; family planning; social marketing and other forms of private sector engagement; health systems strengthening; gender; research; health administration; public health; and/or related issues.
 Key Responsibilities
  • Provides senior leadership, management oversight, and coordination for new and potential Nepal reproductive health programmes.   
  • Provides senior-level content knowledge, technical assistance, consultation, and support for the development, execution, and monitoring of programme-specific strategies.
  • Manages a team of technical and operational staff and coordinates with implementing partners.
  • Maintains regular communication with donors, the government, and other key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for driving overall achievement of project results and key performance indicators.
  • Leads, reviews, and monitors development of annual work plans, logframes and monitoring systems, and budgets.
  • Ensures quality of services and compliance per donor and programme requirements as well as complementarity with national health strategies and programmes.
  • Provides analytical and evaluative techniques to anticipate, identify, and resolve barriers to programme implementation and other risks.
  • Leads and coordinates development of programme-related reports, financial reports, presentations, deliverables, and compilation of best practices.
 Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of senior management experience leading large-scale DFID, European Union, USAID, World Bank, or other donor-funded or government health programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and facilitating partnerships among government, private sector, and nongovernmental health sector partners in Nepal, at national and decentralised levels.
  • Deep understanding of health market dynamics and the health system in Nepal and ability to draw on other regional and/or international best practices.
  • Strong technical grasp of sexual and reproductive health issues; family planning, including long-acting and permanent methods; abortion and postabortion care; maternal, new-born, and child health; and HIV.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, personnel, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong results orientation and commitment to accountability and value for money.
  • Strong personal qualities, including integrity, commitment to excellence, equality, openness, inclusiveness, and collegiality.
  • Excellent written and spoken English required, local languages are a distinct advantage.
  • Advanced degree/s in relevant disciplines or medical degree preferred.
