GENERAL CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – HUMANITARIAN ROSTER LOCATION: VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN HECA POTENTIAL TYPE OF CONTRACT: FIXED TERM

Who we are Oxfam’s HECA Programmes are complex programmes that incorporate both rapid and slow onset emergencies as well as longer term development and policy work. Oxfam applies a one programme approach which means it has multiple activities that support a holistic approach to humanitarian, development and advocacy for long lasting change in poverty reduction.

In this case we are focusing on experience related to humanitarian response and areas of expertise: previous work in humanitarian response, whether they have worked with other NGOs, with the UN, International Federation of the Red Cross, etc. Bearing in mind the linguistic diversity of the region, English, French, Arabic and Swahili abilities are very valuable.

As we anticipate the potential increase in humanitarian response we are looking for experienced humanitarians and are calling for applications for potential roles listed below.

PROGRAMME MANAGER - (Food security, Relief, Livelihoods etc) Hum01 Please apply if you have the following: Minimum of a first degree in Management, Agriculture, Social science, Economics or any other related qualifications. At Least 5 years experience of emergency and understanding of relevant humanitarian and policy issues in an African context, Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with good experience in proposal development, report writing and Grant management.

LOGISTICIAN – (Procurement warehousing Assistant etc) Hum02 Please apply if you have the following: A certificate in Emergency Logistics management, proven experience in Humanitarian or development work, Well developed interpersonal and team skills, good written and spoken English as well as be organised and able to keep clear and concise records.

BUSINESS SUPPORT PERSONNEL (HR, Finance, Admin etc) – Hum03 Please apply if you have the following: you will have a diploma in HR or Business Administration or related field, good knowledge of management of communication systems, as well as good organization, interpersonal and communication skills. Finance – Qualification in accounts with minimum 3 yrs experience in an emergency context with a good people management skills.

PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERS (Water Distribution) – Hum04 Please apply if you have the following: a degree in Water and Environmental engineering. Extensive experience in humanitarian work and significant understanding of pipe water supply source development and integrated WASH and hygiene promotion programme for IDPs/refugees in camps, urban and rural situation.

PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERS (Sanitation & Construction) – Hum05 Please apply if you have the following: a degree in Civil/Water engineering. Extensive experience in humanitarian work and significant understanding of building materials, construction and integrated water & hygiene promotion programme for IDPs/refugees in camps, urban and rural situation.

PUBLIC HEALTH PROMOTERS – Hum06 Please apply if you have the following: a degree in Environmental/public/community health, with at least three years practical experience in appropriate community health and environmental programmes in an emergency/ refugee programme set up.

EMERGENCY FOOD SECURITY AND LIVELIHOODS (EFSL) – Hum07 Please apply if you have the following: A degree or equivalent in Agriculture, Nutrition, Social Sciences, Business, Development, related field, Demonstrable experience of implementing cash transfer & Food Security programmes, Demonstrable successful experience in working with partners in emergency situations.

PROTECTION- Hum08 Please apply if you have the following: A degree or equivalent in Social Sciences. Ability to demonstrate successful experience in working on protection issue, with partners in emergency situations.

WOMEN’S RIGHT - Hum09 Please apply if you have the following: A degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Gender Related Course. Demonstrable successful experience in working with partners in emergency situations.
