UN
OHCHR National Programme Officer works under the overall supervision of
OHCHR Regional Representative for Central Asia and the Deputy Regional
Representative for Central Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities
|
The incumbent will perform the following tasks:
- Maintain
regular contacts with governmental, non-governmental, international,
and other partners of the OHCHR Regional Office for Central Asia in
order to plan and coordinate activities of the Office;
- Provide
regular inputs into various reports, oral and written briefings by the
Office and monitor political and legal developments that affect human
rights compliance of the Central Asia states in the thematic priorities
assigned to the incumbent;
- Contribute to the Office’s work- and cost-planning and monitoring progress towards expected accomplishments;
- Initiate,
organize and coordinate programmatic and administrative arrangements
for meetings, seminars, conferences, workshops, round tables and forums
of exchanges;
- Support
substantively, and logistically as necessary, missions of the OHCHR
Regional Representative for Central Asia, other OHCHR staff members and
independent Experts within the country and in the region;
- Serve
as a focal point for the coordination and implementation of activities
under the OHCHR projects for Central Asia in as far they relate to the
thematic priorities assigned to the incumbent;
- Monitor
the OHCHR projects for Central Asia substantively and financially to
ensure the efficient and timely delivery of inputs and the realisation
of the targeted expenditure/delivery rate, and provide periodic
assessments of the realisation of objectives and results;
- Visit
project activities, providing substantive guidance to others involved
in the implementation of the project, in consultation with the
supervisors;
- Performing other duties as required.

Required Skills and Experience
|
Education and experience:
- University degree in Law or Political Science, or related field.
Experience:
- Four
to five years of experience working in international organisations,
such as the UN, or other regional or international intergovernmental /
non-governmental organisations, preferably in the area of human rights
or legal reform.
- Project management experience strongly desirable.
Knowledge and skills:
- Excellent communications and drafting skills.
- Ability to operate computer and office equipment.
- Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel or equivalent software.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent organisational skills.
Language:
- Fluency in written and oral English and Russian are required. Knowledge of Kyrgyz is an asset
