Background
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading global humanitarian and post-conflict development organisation working in more than 25 conflict-affected countries worldwide.

IRC-UK is the European headquarters, established in 1997 as an independent British charity. IRC-UK contributes to programme management, fundraising for overseas programmes, and policy and advocacy on conflict-related issues in Britain and Europe. IRC has a single unitary operational structure, in which IRC country programmes report to senior staff in New York.  

The Director of International Programmes will lead the IRC-UK International Programmes Team (IPT), which consists of 14 members of staff.  The IPT is responsible for all European statutory fundraising, for monitoring and reporting on grants awarded, and for building relationships with key statutory donors. 

Scope of Work
Leading on the growth and diversification of statutory funding for IRC-UK, you will ensure the highest quality of proposal development, grant implementation and risk management.  The Director of IPT will report to the Executive Director of IRC-UK and work in close coordination with other IRC-UK teams as well as the IRC’s Regional Programme Management and Technical (Sectoral) Units and HQ Finance, Legal and Grants Units.

In addition to line managing eight members of staff, the Director of IPT works with the other IRC-UK senior managers to provide leadership to the organisation and participate in strategic planning. The Director will also play an active leadership role in the global IRC network, facilitating internal cross-department collaboration and representing the IRC to external bodes where necessary.
