Scientist - Water Science and Policy Ecologic Institute Berlin, Germany

Ecologic Institute is a private not-for-profit think tank for applied environmental research, policy analysis and consultancy with offices in Berlin, Brussels, Washington DC, and San Mateo CA. As an independent, non-partisan body, Ecologic Institute brings fresh ideas to environmental and sustainable development policies. Ecologic Institute's work programme focuses on obtaining practical results. It covers the entire spectrum of environmental issues, including the integration of environmental concerns into other policy fields. Founded in 1995, Ecologic Institute is a partner in the network of Institutes for European Environmental Policy and currently has an interdisciplinary team of 120 people.

To expand our water team in Berlin, Ecologic Institute is seeking a highly motivated

Scientist in the field of water science and policy

Responsibilities:

- Independent work on European and international projects
- Provide support to decision makers on the implementation of the EU Water Framework
Directive and other relevant policies at the EU and international level (policies on floods,
droughts, water and climate change, coastal and marine protection)
- Present and disseminate project results at international conferences, workshops, and expert
groups
- Project management including participation in meetings
- Project acquisition
- Interdisciplinary cooperation with scientific colleagues from different domains

Profile:

- Educational background in environmental or social science with a focus on water
- Very good/excellent knowledge of and experience with relevant national, European and
international policy processes with a focus on water protection policies
- Knowledge of international and national water networks
- Experience with project management and acquisition
- Proficiency in German and English
- Interest and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
