Staff Scientist/Senior Staff Scientist

The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) Particle Physics and Astrophysics Directorate seeks a Staff Scientist to work on the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment. The successful candidate will play a leadership role in the SLAC group on CDMS, both with the current activities focused on CDMS-Snolab as well as the planning for a future third generation dark matter experiment.  In the near term we anticipate that the candidate will lead and make significant contributions to activities such as Ge tower production, development and utilization of a GEANT-based simulation, development of the computing model for CDMS, as well as analysis of CDMS data.  The candidate is also expected to help lead the development of future Dark Matter experimental proposals, for the generation of experiments after CDMS-Snolab.  Exceptional candidates may be considered for the rank of Senior Staff Scientist.

Qualifications:• Must have a Ph.D. in experimental physics or equivalent.
• Must have at least 7 years of post-PhD. experience in experimental physics or equivalent.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities in a collaborative experimental environment.
• Demonstrated achievements in the development, commissioning, operation or analysis of HEP experiments.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
