Dow Corning is US based company and is the global leader on the silicone market.
The Seneffe site in Belgium, established in 1970, is the European Headquarter and houses all the commercial, production and research & development activities for the Sealants/Fluids and Emulsions. There are about 600 people working on the site.
Products produced and developed in Seneffe are used by many industries – construction, detergent, cosmetic, textile and paper. More than 95% is exported worldwide.
We are now looking for: Regulatory and product applied environmental specialist
The Challenge
Within our Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance department, the jobholder will bring expertise in the assessment of the regulatory environmental and eco-toxicological profile of Dow Corning products and in the implementation of new regulation requirements in Europe.
His/Her main responsabilities will be:
- Play a key role in commercialisation by assessing the environmental profile of new products produced by Dow Corning in the frame of related regulations (GHS, CLP, REACH, VOC);
- Perform the environmental hazard assessment of Dow Corning substances in the frame of any new or existing European regulations, with a particular emphasis on European classification and labelling regulations ( CLP regulation) to ensure regulatory compliance;
- Answer to environmental related customer inquiries relative to Dow Corning products;
- Work within the global product environmental specialists organisation to ensure harmonisation of the classification and labelling approaches;
- Support Product Safety and Regulatory compliance department in the implementation new regulations in his/her field of expertise (REACH registration, CLP);
- Participate in projects aimed at improving internal processes and customer services.
Your profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- Good understanding of product environmental properties and related chemistry;
- Master degree in environmental sciences with 2 or 3 years experience in industry sector;
- Understanding and experience in European regulatory area;
- Knowledgeable in European and national regulations linked to classification and labelling and REACH;
- Ability to analyze and apply regulatory requirements in the context of Dow Corning businesses and products applications;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts;
- Good analytical skills;
- Accurate, conscientious;
- Good team player;
- Self management & leadership;
- Fluency in English, another European language being an additional asset;
- Computer literacy: MS office, experience with SAP being an additional asset.
