Senior Agri-Finance Specialist
based in Kyiv, Ukraine
The Senior Agri-Finance Specialist will work collaboratively with the Ukraine and Central Asia Project Managers as well as directly with pilot financial institutions in Ukraine, Tajikistan and other countries who are current or prospective IFC investment clients with the overall objective of developing and/or improving the institutions’ capabilities in combination with an IFC investment to give loans to agribusiness clients.
The Key Responsibilities for Candidate include:
- Identify, design, and implement approaches to key project issues, opportunities and needs, and consult with management to address them;
- Support the projects to further develop the existing set of agri-finance risk management tools for banks, and for the different sub-sectors;
- Advise commercial banks in developing their agri-finance lending activities;
- Ensure a coordinated approach and relationship management with client banks;
- Train project staff and consultants in more depth in agri-lending operations;
- Collaborate with IFC investment staff and other advisory project to identify and assess investment potential in agri-business, including assessment of specific project opportunities;
- Develop new projects in agri-financial services; draft project documentation;
Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree, and 10 years of relevant work experience in agri-finance, or banking
- Successful track record in management, preferably in private sector development
- Strong commercial orientation
- Strong understanding of agri-banking products and services with experience in developing/ advising banks on developing products, corresponding policies and procedures, and training, ideally in a management consulting or/and banking setting.
- Training/teaching/consulting skills, preferably in comparable conditions
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in English (written and oral); Ukrainian or Russian language skills is highly desired
- Able to work in a multicultural team, self-confident and energetic
- Relevant experience working in the Central and Eastern Europe region is desirable.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to travel
