Desk Officer

£23,016 - £26,040 per annum (plus contributory pension)
MAG works to tackle the destructive legacy of violence and conflict; to release land for food production; to increase safe access to vital resources like water, education and health services; and to build a better future for women, men and children alike. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Nobel Peace-Prize winning international NGO.
We are currently seeking to recruit a Desk Officer to provide support to our overseas programmes. Reporting one of our Regional Programmes Managers, you will work in a team of Desk Officers and act as the main point of contact for overseas staff in your designated programmes. You will work closely with programme staff to support the development of projects and have responsibility for grant management, including both writing and reviewing reports and proposals. You will also provide administrative and logistical support to existing and new projects including budget writing and monitoring.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with experience of developing and supporting projects, ideally including experience of working with a wide range of institutional donors. Excellent planning and organizational skills are essential, with the ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also essential for this role.
Experience and understanding of technical issues relating to mine clearance are not necessary for this post; more important is your commitment to international humanitarian and capacity building principles. The role will be based in Manchester and may involve short periods of overseas travel.
Please note that applicants who are non-residents of the UK will need to provide documentary evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK.
