Director, Fiscal Affairs Department

The IMF has an opening for the position of Department Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD). Department Directors are the most senior staff positions in the organization and work under the guidance of the Managing Director and her four Deputies. The Director is expected to provide intellectual leadership, strategic vision, and management oversight for the work of FAD, within a leadership culture that delivers high-quality advice and services to its global membership. As part of the IMF’s senior leadership team, the Director is expected to make a significant contribution to developing and implementing the IMF’s overall strategy.
Duties: 
FAD provides policy and technical advice on public finance issues (macro-fiscal;tax and expenditure policies; tax and customs administration; public expenditure policies;and public financial management) to member countries, either directly or in conjunction with the Fund'sregional departments. In addition, FAD is primarily responsible for the IMF's work onincome distribution and poverty, social safety nets, and the environment. FAD's mainactivities include: the provision of technical assistance to member countries; inputinto the IMF's bilateral and regional surveillance, and into the designof adjustment programs supported by the IMF; multilateral fiscal surveillance, including the preparation of the Fiscal Monitor, research and policy studies on a broadrange of public finance issues; and work on fiscal transparency. The Director leads a department of about 250 employees.
