Job Summary

Cardno TEC is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager in our Newport News, VA location.  The Senior Project Manager will represent Cardno TEC with clients and consultants on a large range of subjects related to the environment and construction. This position will manage and direct projects and may make decisions on behalf of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serve as Manager and leader of project teams involved in assignments primarily for large US government industrial and military facilities worldwide
  • Direct team members (employees and consultants) at all levels of contract administration
  • Consult with clients to determine project plans and schedules
  • Plan layouts of projects and integrate component elements into unified design for client review and approval
  • Represent Cardno TEC in obtaining bids
  • Prepare studies and reports
  • Directly supervise numerous employees and, when appropriate, subcontractors involved in the project
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Cardno TEC’s policies and applicable laws

  • Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment
  • BA/BS degree in relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in Environmental or Engineering consulting
  • Certified Environmental Professional designation
  • Knowledge of NEPA laws and regulations
  • Experience writing Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS)
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral presentation
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Ability to exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures
  • Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all paperwork procedures necessary to complete the contract documents to obtain permits
  • Ability to use working knowledge of consultant work to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
Training and Experience:
  • Experience with Federal Agency/DOD planning and budget/contracting procedures
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Expertise in MS Office
  • Superior leadership and management skills
