Chinese Translator , UNICEF

1) Rationale and context of the assignment: Execute translation of provided content into the Chinese language to appear on the appropriate UNICEF website(s).
2) Scope of Work: Same as above
3) Responsibilities: • Translation from English to Chinese of provided content to appear on appropriate UNICEF website(s)
• Translations should be delivered on a timely basis and under assigned deadlines. • Translator will follow the style sheet that UNICEF will provide and will agree on the use of certain terminology integral to conserving UNICEF’s message. • May be asked to work weekends and holidays, as required • Perform other tasks, as required
4) Deliverables, Delivery dates, Costs and Timeframe, Details of how the work must be delivered: o Provide translation of provided content from English to Chinese (stories, press releases, core information, etc.) to appear on appropriate UNICEF website(s). o The material would be sent electronically to the translator, who will return the document in a Word format on the date indicated in the translation request.

7) Performance indicators for evaluation of results:
• An editorial review of the translated material will be done after each document is delivered, and any issues will be addressed immediately with the translator • Quality of the translation • Feedback to supervisor by the Web language coordinator and Chinese Web editor about changes in the language and sentence structure used in the translations. • Standard UNICEF Performance Evaluations conducted every 6 months and at end of contract. • Timely delivery of deliverables and adherence to timeline and set deadlines.
8) Qualifications or specialized knowledge/ experience required: • Fluency in English and Chinese is required. • Minimum 5 years’ experience in translation from English to Chinese. • Knowledge of language used in a Web environment in English and in Chinese. • Previous experience working in an international environment is a plus
