Kimberley Underground Mines JV is situated in the city of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The Mine consists of 3 conventional slushier drift block cave mines.
Fitter (Ore Processing Plant)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be responsible for maintenance in the ore processing plant as well as the construction and installation of new equipment in accordance with sound engineering practices and equipment specifications.
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance
  • Repair equipment and machinery according to maintenance standards
  • Maintain and install crushers, screens, feeders, conveyors, pumps and gearboxes
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards
  • Ensure personal and co-workers' adherence to and compliance with security and the Company's SHE objectives
  • Work overtime, shifts, be on standby and available for call-outs should the need arise.
Minimum requirements:
  • Qualified Fitter with Trade Test Certificate from a recognised/accredited institution
  • Minimum N2 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
  • Valid driver's licence (EB/Code 08)
  • 3 years’ experience as a Fitter in the DMS, crushing and screening sections of a Plant
  • Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience in series pump installations.
Other skills/competencies:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Independent and proactive thinker
  • Ability to do own job planning as well as work within a team
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Sound engineering principles with proper understanding of maintenance philosophies
  • Safety conscious with rigid engineering knowledge.
