The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Heavy Diesel Fitter, based at our iron ore operation, West Angelas, to execute varied inspections on day to day basis on heavy mobile equipment and ensure that emerging faults are identified in order to ensure safe and reliable plant and equipment.
 
Located 110km west of Newman, West Angelas offers a fly in fly out roster. Operational since 2002, West Angelas was the first site to be incorporated into our Mine of the Future™ programme, trialling autonomous trucks (since moved to Yandicoogina) and autonomous drills. A recent expansion to the accommodation village, gym and recreational facilities on site offer exceptional living.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work in a challenging environment. Working on a fly in fly out roster (2 weeks on and 1 week off) and reporting to the Shut Supervisor, you will be:
 
  • Inspecting heavy mobile equipment for faults in accordance with the inspection plan
  • Recording faults on notifications generated in SAP
  • Performing general housekeeping duties in and around the heavy vehicle fuel bay
  • Working towards team plans and achieving targets
  • Ensuring that all maintenance and operational duties are executed in safe and efficient manner
 
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
 
  • A Heavy Duty Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Diesel Fitter or Mechanic trade certificate
  • A Western Australian (WA) Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s licence
  • Experience working in a workshop on a mine site and maintaining heavy mobile equipment
  • Experience using SAP and Microsoft (MS) Office in particular Excel
 
Your Overhead Crane, Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and Forklift tickets will be desirable.
