ABOUT ARGYLE
Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine has been one of the world’s premier diamond producers for the last 25 years and is now moving into its next exciting phase as an underground block cave mine. This change in mining method means new and unique opportunities in the West Australian mining industry.
The Manager Surface Operations will play a major part in taking Argyle through the challenge of transitioning to a fully producing underground mine and a new business model. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Managing Director, the primary purpose of this role is to deliver production and maintenance objectives in a safe, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner that is aligned with the strategic direction of Argyle.
The role is accountable for the overall performance of the Process Plant, Tailings Facility, Power Station, Engineering Projects, Electrical Engineering & Process Control, and Facilities & Grounds Maintenance. The teams account for more than 200 people for which the Manager Surface Operations is accountable for and has an annual budget of more than $100mil.
This role interacts closely with the Managing Director, Argyle Management team, Antwerp sales and marketing team, the Diamonds Group technical team as well as the site’s Traditional Owners and Gelganyem trust.
An important focus of your role will be working with Management team to identify and embed opportunities for continuously enhancing the success of our business.
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for this position, you will have an Engineering degree or relevant university qualification. You will have significant experience in process operations, maintenance, or engineering as well as a demonstrated record of success in a senior operations management role.
You will have the ability to design and maintain effective processes and systems as well as be able to demonstrate the ability to identify risks, analyse information and recommend solutions. You will be an experienced leader and have the ability to manage people in cross-functional teams.
It is required that you will have a clear understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations and project Safety Management Plan. In addition to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental legislation, key business processes including planning, budgeting, cost control and Management accounting principles
You will be results orientated and possess the requisite skills to develop and monitor multiple pathways and to align operational and strategic goals whilst delivering value across the business and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
This position is offered on a permanent basis, working on site at Argyle on a 4 days on, 3 days off roster residing in the East Kimberley.
