Senior Programme Officer Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

an experienced, ambitious and dynamic Senior Programme Officer WASH
Simavi is an ambitious, growing development organization. Together with local partners we improve the health of people in the poorest regions in developing countries. We take care of safe drinking water, sustainable sanitation, hygiene, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. With more than one hundred partners we offer support to communities in nine countries in Africa and Asia. We influence the policies of governments to take into account the health of the poorest people. We campaign to engage the general public and involve them in what we do. We are lead agent of the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Alliance, member of the SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) Alliance and are cooperating closely with the private sector.
For our our WASH team at the Programme Department we are looking for a:
Senior Programme Officer Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (36 hrs)
You will work in a dynamic team of WASH Programme Officers, who develop and manage the WASH projects and programmes of Simavi in Africa and Asia. Together with colleagues you play an active role in developing programmes, policies and funding proposals. The Senior WASH Programme Officer will report to the WASH Programme Manager.
Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate specific externally funded WASH programmes in Tanzania, Ghana and Indonesia, in close cooperation with our field offices in these countries (including visits);
  2. Provide expertise and input to the under 1 mentioned WASH programmes;
  3. Development of strategies and programmes related to WASH;
  4. Development of allocated specific WASH related sub-thematic expertise area;
  5. Identification of opportunities to attract external WASH programme funding;
  6. Prepare – in close cooperation with the Institutional Fundraiser – programmes and proposals to submit for funding;
  7. Networking within the sector, specifically with potential donors;
  8. Manage partner relations (NGOs, consultants, embassies, government etc);
Job requirements
  • Academic level, with knowledge and experience in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene and civil society organizations in developing countries;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in developing countries;
  • Excellent skills in programme management and monitoring;
  • Proven track record in programme development and fundraising;
  • Good communication skills in English and preferable Dutch;
  • Dutch citizen or in possession of legal entitlement to live and work in the Netherlands;
  • Result oriented, entrepreneurial and demonstrated ability to set priorities;
  • Team player, but can also work independently.

  • A gross monthly salary between € 2.426,79 and € 3.852,75 on a fulltime basis of 36 hours;
