The internship is a 12-month placement which aims to provide real work experience related to degrees within our finance departments.
Through the internship, the individual will gain a valuable insight into the operation of a successful business, having responsibility in a range of areas. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will provide an excellent start into a career in finance based areas.
SAP responsibilities:
  • The main objective is to work with functional owners to understand SAP functionality for each financial module and work with Finance and Operations functional owners to get the required visibility. 
  • Own data transfer mapping and reconciliation process between SAP and legacy system. 
  • Define with functional Finance reporting requirements and own the functional side of building and testing the reports by working with IT and non-Finance users. 
  • Document training materials and processes so functional users can improve their SAP capabilities. 
  • Suggest and test solutions for specific business scenarios. 
  • Any other duties relevant and aligned to the internship program.
    General responsibilities:

  • Operational & Financial Performance Reporting – liaise within the immediate team and across other business functions to compare performance to latest expectations, highlighting key drivers 
  • Providing a high level of customer service to operations, commercial and finance management including interaction with other GE businesses, functions and internal or external auditors 
  • Prepare and update receivable data for currency hedging forecasts 
  • Supporting quarterly selected account reconciliations 
  • Supporting monthly and quarterly closing activities 
  • General adhoc queries and projects to assist finance managers 
  • Identify areas for simplification and alignment, working with manager to find solutions.
  • Graduates or students who are in the 2nd year of a degree course with a finance or business background are preferred, but all degree subjects will be considered providing the candidate is able to demonstrate a genuine interest in finance. 
  • Predicted 2:1 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and inter-personal skills are essential. 
  • Candidates should be able to use their own initiative and work as part of a team. 
  • Fluency in English, with good written and oral presentation skills. 
  • Flexibility to prioritise assignments and meet strict deadlines is crucial. 
  • Candidates must have authorization to work within the European Union.
