BBC Media Action is the independent international charity of the BBC which uses media to advance development worldwide. Our mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives in developing and transitional countries through innovative use of media. We do this through our focus on health, governance, livelihoods, climate change and humanitarian response. We are largely funded by external grants, mainly from the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), the European Union, UN agencies and charitable foundations. We work to raise awareness among mass and opinion-former audiences, affect behaviour change, influence policy and transfer skills and knowledge
Role Responsibility
BBC Media Action is recruiting a maternity cover Head of Evidence to oversee research analysis, dissemination, engagement, and innovation in the portfolio of research conducted across the Research and Learning Group. This role will be responsible for managing the analysis and communications of research in the R&L team, including: managing the portfolio of briefings, conference attendance, external communication, and research innovation – making sure all is delivered to budget and quality. Furthermore, the Head of Evidence will line manage a new Analysis Specialist team within R&L, that will support analysis across key research programmes.
The Ideal Candidate
This position will expect you to have experience of working in international development research. You will also have knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and techniques, with experience in commissioning, analysing and presenting research. This role will need you to have excellent analytical skills and the ability to think strategically, coupled with the capability to identify most salient and applicable lessons from both research and communication. You will require outstanding communication skills, along with experience of drafting research proposals and working with budgets. You’ll also have experience in line and task managing.
