You are a passionate proposal writer. You enjoy working with international teams. Reaching together War Child's fundraising targets under time pressure. It gives you energy. Fundraising is essential for reaching as many war affected children as possible. Funds are raised for War Child's Programmes and projects at different levels. The responsibility for fundraising with institutional donors rests with the Institutional Funding Unit (IFU) (part of the Marketing & Fundraising department) and the War Child Programme Countries. The Programme Advisor Institutional Funding (PAIF) is part of the Institutional Funding Unit (IFU) and reports from a line position directly to the Manager of the IFU. The Programme Advisor Institutional Funding works closely together with other IFU members and the country teams. The IFU consists of a Manager, 2 Programme Advisors Foundations, Programme Advisor Institutional Funding, Conn@ct.Now Coordinator and a Grant specialist. Duty station is Amsterdam.
Your challenge
You are responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities for War Child Holland and either lead, coordinate or support these efforts by working in proposal development teams, to ensure timely and quality submissions to donors. This will include extensive (technical) writing of proposals for institutional donors. You are also the Fundraising Focal Point for a number of War Child Holland's Programme Countries and you will support the development of country fundraising strategies and the subsequent implementation of fundraising action plans. The PAIF will provide support to strengthening the fundraising capacity in the Programme Countries.
Your profile
You have more than 3 years academic work experience in the area of fundraising in combination with 2 years of relevant international work experience. You have technical expertise in at least one of the War Child thematic areas (e.g. Education, Child Protection, Psychosocial Support) and a proven track record of writing winning technical Programmes responding to GRANT solicitations in limited amount of time. You understand the financial side of proposals (donor budgets). You have knowledge of developments and donor trends in the international aid sector. You are a strong relationship builder with excellent diplomatic skills. You enjoy building and maintaining networks. You have excellent writing skills in English and preferably in Dutch. Fluency in French, Arabic and/or Spanish is a big plus. You have excellent organizational skills and eye for details. Willingness to travel (40%) is a must. Experience with Dutch Foreign Affairs is a plus.
