Senior Audience Planner - BBC three, Entertainment and Comedy

The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world and is currently recruiting for a Senior Audience Planner to join our team based in London.
BBC Audience Planners work to put audience insight at the heart of the BBC’s output (programmes, products, services and brands). Planners provide creative leadership - clarifying objectives, articulating challenges and spotting opportunities, as well as helping to inspire and direct the creative energy of what is one of the most creative businesses in the word.

Role Responsibility

As a senior planner for BBC Three, Entertainment and Comedy in the TV team, you will craft and inspire creative strategies for some of the UK’s most exciting and innovative content.  Working across Entertainment and Comedy you’ll get under the skin of how the UK likes to relax, what makes us laugh and what brings us together. As part of the BBC Three Audiences Team you’ll help to drive the BBC’s understanding of 16-34s and how we can entertain, inspire and learn from each other.
In particular, the successful candidate will have the chance to help lead BBC Three through the most exciting period since launch - exploring what it means to be the UK’s first truly digital channel. You will partner with and influence senior-decision-makers across the business to ensure BBC Three is a brave and innovative digital pioneer that truly connects with young people across the country.
You will think strategically and identify the issues which need resolving work closely with Audience Research and analytics to analyse and bring to life existing audience data/information and make it accessible and of use.
You will be involved in developing integrated, coherent strategies that will have a positive impact on BBC  content across platforms and to interrogate and find new, interesting audience insights and creative stimulus, resulting in inspiring and focused creative briefs and briefings. You will help the creative and digital community  use this stimulus and direction to develop, refine and evaluate content and service ideas to ensure that the  audience is represented in key strategic decisions.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have substantial experience and working knowledge of all the necessary tools to help solve creative problems (including strategic thinking, qualitative and quantitative research, creative stimulus, creative briefs etc).
Experience of working in creatively led businesses alongside creative people at a senior level - and helping them develop ideas; with a proven ability to do so sensitively and sympathetically.
The successful candidate will have the ability to manage projects from conception to completion and to bring together disparate groups of people to work effectively as a team.
Interest in the creative output of the BBC is essential. As is knowledge of, and interest in, the rapidly changing broadcasting industry, and the role of the BBC within it.
