Special Projects Scientist - Plant Physiologist, Hyderabad, India

Special Projects Scientist Plant Physiologist The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world. The Center's South Asia Regional office based in Hyderabad is seeking an Indian national as Plant Physiologist to work in its legume breeding and development programs.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct laboratory, glasshouse and field experiments for abiotic stress tolerance in legumes
  2. Coordinate multi-locational field trials for legumes
  3. Data collection and collation and maintenance of databases
  4. Preparation of research reports and papers
  5. Conduct research work activities as part of a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications and experience
  • PhD in plant physiology or a related field with a good academic record;
  • At least five years of extensive experience in laboratory, glasshouse and field screening for crop improvement;
  • Sound knowledge of experimental designs; strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Excellent computer skills.
Terms of Appointment
The incumbent will be based in Hyderabad, India. The position will be initially for a year with the possibility of extension depending upon work performance.
