Background to Tax
By meeting their tax obligations, clients help the wider community. As we help them to navigate an increasingly complex tax and regulatory environment and support them in making the right decisions, we’re contributing to the better working world that everyone wants to see.
Our advisors therefore need a deep understanding of relevant legislation, outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
As a tax professional at EY, you'll use your research and analytical skills, apply yourself to stay on top of the law and acquire an in-depth knowledge of clients’ businesses.
We provide a full suite of tax services to clients ranging from the very largest multinationals to fast-growth entrepreneurial businesses. You might choose to start your tax career with us by acquiring a broad experience across a range of different service offerings or by focusing on one particular area.
Background to Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR)
GCR is a sub-service line within tax. The GCR team works with large corporate clients to help them address a wide range of tax risk and reporting issues which includes providing
· The oversight and management of large outsourced tax compliance contracts
· Tax process improvement services
· Tax technology design and implementation
· Tax risk advisory services
· Tax policy and controls design and implementation
· Tax transparency reporting
GCR is a newer sub-service line in tax formed to meet the growing demand from our clients for services to support them with enhancing governance and risk management across all areas of tax, so it is in a period of high growth and opportunities. The GCR team works closely with colleagues around the world and with other service lines within EY such as Advisory and Assurance.. School leavers joining GCR will have exposure to senior professionals in the firm as this sub service line continues to build its team.
Your development
With access to an incredible combination of training and work experience, joining the EY School Leaver programme is a great alternative to the traditional university route – with the same excellent career at the end of it. You’ll get into business and start earning straight away, building the fundamental business skills, confidence, networks and knowledge to set you on your way.
At the same time, you’ll be studying for a professional qualification, for example Chartered Accountancy – enjoying the benefits of a dedicated coach to support you. You could even qualify sooner than some graduates. In England you’ll work towards your professional qualification through the ICAEW, while in Scotland you’ll do it through ICAS.
Your future
You’ll learn a lot in five years with us. By the end you’ll be doing the same work as university graduates and could be on your way to becoming a Partner with EY – if that’s the direction you want to take. How far you progress really is up to you. However long you stay with us, the experiences you have, networks you create and skills you learn will last a lifetime.
