Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, is both the forum and voice of the European chemical industry. It aims to maintain and develop a prosperous chemical industry in Europe by promoting the best possible economic, social and environmental conditions to bring benefits to society.
Cefic is located in Brussels and employs more than 160 people. Cefic represents the European chemical industry vis-à-vis the EU Institutions and involves its member federations and companies in European advocacy.
Cefic is actively looking for a dynamic and experienced person (M/F) to fulfil a senior role in its petrochemistry department.
He/she will:
- Develop and implement the EFOA’s policy and strategic objectives;
- Actively represent the industry by developing and executing advocacy;
- Establish and maintain a network of relationships, links and alliances with other relevant European stakeholders, media and NGO’s;
- Monitor and identify relevant (emerging) policy issues legislation on EU and member state level;
- Represent the industry in conferences, seminars, symposia and serve as spokesperson for EFOA in the media;
- Manage EFOA on day-to-day basis;
- Develop contacts with potential new members to the association;
- Maintain agreed budgets, develop and upkeep association and Cefic policies.
Background and experience
- Master degree with political and/or technical orientation with strong knowledge of European politics and institutions;
- 10 to 15 years working experience in multinational industry organizations with proven track record in international advocacy and engagement with policy makers;
- Experience in EU association management or within the fuel industry would be considered as a plus.
Skills and competencies
- Fluent in written and spoken English with a good knowledge of at least one other European language;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to give presentations at different levels, strong interpersonal skills and “self-starter”;
- Well developed project management skills and willingness to travel.
