European Court of Human Rights
Based in Strasbourg, France, the European Court of Human Rights is the judicial body of the Council of Europe which oversees the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights in its 47 member states. In this senior position, you will assist the Registrar of the Court to manage both the administrative and judicial activities of the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights and help provide leadership to its 650 staff.
Together with the Registrar you will oversee the case-processing activities of the Registry, determine staffing and budgetary policies, and maintain close contact with senior stakeholders within the Council of Europe. Equally importantly, you will ensure effective implementation of the communication policy for interaction with the media, the public and other international and national courts and provide expert advice on practice and procedure.
Alongside a law degree, you will bring extensive experience of administration and management at senior levels, backed by thorough knowledge of the European Convention on Human Rights, including associated case law. You will join us from a high profile environment and bring exceptional skills in diplomacy, strategy, negotiation and relationship building. Finally, it is essential that you can resolve complex issues creatively yet methodically, maximise the performance of a large workforce including senior lawyers, and communicate effectively in both English and French.
