Sales and Service Manager

Sandvik Mining is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry. The offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
Key performance areas
As the Sales and Service Manager, you willpromote sales directly to Customers, internally to our Account Managers and Sales Representatives, and to our Dealers. You will be expected to drive robust sales by building and developing relationships with both existing and new customers in sales and service. A key function of your role will be to hire, coach, motivate, train, evaluate, and direct team members in both sales and service to accomplish defined goals and objectives. Further, you will oversee a team of 80 employees including supervisors and staff.
Additionally, the Sales and Service Manager will identify and target new customers and sales and service opportunities while achieving monthly, quarterly and yearly gross sales and margin targets.
Sales responsibilities include:
  • Creating business development plans and targets for the product range in collaboration with the Product Line Manager and the regional Customer Segment Manager (this will include the introduction of new products into the market)
  • Participating in the Sales Area Management team to develop and implement plans and actions in accordance with global and regional initiatives and guidelines
  • Managing forecasted sales on budget, meeting gross profit targets
  • Providing training and education on the product range, assisting with the compilation of tender documentation, pricing strategies, and the supply of marketing material to support sales efforts
  • Visiting key customers directly or in conjunction with the sales team to provide in depth product knowledge (this will include development of direct customer relationships with key clients and to help the aftermarket teams to trouble shoot technical problems)
  • Developing and organize product training for sales and service personnel for the respective products
Service responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring equipment performance meet or exceed contractual obligations
  • Identifying, analyzing, and driving resolution of customer issues (warranty and non-warranty) with account management
  • Setting up and manage service contract operations to meet the contract target cost
  • Executing service workshop activity to cost, utilization, quality and cycle time targets
  • Setting up and managing service workshop operations including required procurement
  • Executing field service activities
  • Setting up and managing service field operations
You sales territory will encompass the entire United States. Heavy travel should be expected (at least 50%).
Your profile
Besides possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or business discipline, the Sales and Service Manager must have 10+ years’ industry related sales and service experience (heavy construction and/or mining).
