Background:
ePURE is the association representing the European renewable ethanol industry. Our 24 member companies throughout 16 Member States account for around 90% of the installed renewable ethanol production capacity in Europe. Their ethanol is used in the fuel market, but also in the beverage and industrial markets.
The work of the association involves a growing number of regulatory issues which require substantial technical competence. Examples include:

- the work towards the introduction of mid-level fuel blends, in parallel with the deployment of existing blending levels (E10 and E85) in the EU Member States; as well as
- the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive and Fuel Quality Directive (greenhouse gas emissions savings, Indirect Land Use Change emissions). ePURE is therefore recruiting an expert with the required technical expertise to deliver the optimum support needed to manage these files.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to manage the following files:
- Support members with questions related to the implementation of the legislation in their Member States, incl. deployment of E10 and regulatory issues for existing blends (E10 and E85);
- The discussions with standardisation body CEN, the European Commission and other interested stakeholders on fuel blends and fuel specifications;
- Manage and coordinate studies commissioned by the industry;
- Assist members and the Secretariat with the understanding of technical studies by third parties;
- Assist the team with communications and lobbying activities where relevant;
- Review and provide expert input on the more technical elements of the Renewable Energy Directive and Fuel Quality Directive (Greenhouse Gas emissions savings, ILUC emissions and its modeling).
Required qualifications and skills
- Masters degree in Engineering in a field related to the fuel/automotive sector;
- At least 3 years of relevant experience;
- Excellent English (written and spoken). Additional EU language desired;
- Ability to convey technical issues in simple terms, public speaking;
- Project management skills, incl. ability to manage meetings, budgets and respect deadlines.
