Programme Officer
CoE - Council of Europe
Strasbourg, France
Deliver the statistics to help us deliver consistent justice across Europe.
Based in Strasbourg, France, the Council of Europe brings together 47 member states to protect and promote human rights, democracy and the rule of law throughout Europe and beyond. Playing a key role within our Justice and Legal Cooperation Department, you will assist in implementing programmes for the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice.
You will prepare and draft regular reports evaluating national justice systems, including detailed analysis and commentary on data, graphs and tables. At the same time, you will organise meetings and forums, undertake peer evaluation visits to assess national data collection methods and build close relationships with legal experts and partners from national institutions and professional associations. Most importantly, you will make a significant contribution to the annual EU Justice Scorecard through delivering statistical and numerical data to highlight international trends and support far-reaching decision-making.
Alongside a postgraduate qualification in a legal discipline, you will bring proven professional experience of practising law or analysing justice systems. This will have given you deep knowledge of legal frameworks across Europe, backed by a conceptual mindset and the ability to analyse and interpret statistical findings. You will be capable of taking initiatives and organising a complex workload, and have sound communication skills in both English and French.
Applications should be made in English or French using the Council of Europe online application system at www.coe.int/jobs before the deadline of 24 August 2015.
