Fund Development Advisor

The Europe/Africa Office, situated in Zurich, is part of the Rotary International Secretariat with its headquarters in Evanston, Illinois/USA. The mission of our 45 employees is to provide efficient and high quality service to Rotarians in Europe and Africa and support them in attaining the objectives of Rotary.
For a new position in our Foundation Services Department in Zurich we are looking for a Fund Development Advisor (100%).
As our new Fund Development advisor you will have a role in which you will proactively assist with increasing the level of funding received by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. You will report to the Foundation Manager of the Europe/Africa Office, supporting him in the overall development and implementation of fundraising strategies in the Europe/Africa region. Another key element of your role is interacting with regional volunteers as well as monitoring and following up of fund development progress. Providing information to all parties participating in fund development activities, analysing the contribution trends within our organization as well as preparing reports on trends in the philanthropic community and important changes in legal and governmental policies will also be part of your responsibility. Furthermore, you would be expected to develop relationships with a select portfolio of current and potential donors to solicit major gifts. Upon request you will be responsible for supporting and training volunteers at Rotary meetings in the Europe/Africa region.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a background in Financial Sales/Marketing and/or Fundraising and 5-8 years of fund development  experience. You are a highly structured and well organised person who knows how to set priorities and you have a firm commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Self-motivation, initiative and a high team-spirit add to your profile, yet at the same time you also appreciate working independently.

Key skills:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Italian;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with tact and diplomacy;
  • Strong analytical capacity;
  • Good promotional writing and presentation skills;
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fund raising software;
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office products).
