EU Media Relations & Communication Manager

Huawei is looking for an EU Media Relations & Communication Manager.
 
The EU Media Relations & Communication Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing Huawei’s Brussels media relations programme, including strategy, planning and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a deep-rooted understanding of the EU decision making process, sound project and time management skills and be capable of engaging with different stakeholder groups. 
 
The position will require strong organizational skills, political insight and the ability to work with experts to ensure messaging can be understood by journalists and their readers within the European policy sphere.  The EU Media Relations & Communication Manager will coordinate and work closely with colleagues in Huawei’s Public Affairs and Communication offices in other European countries and will support them as needed. 
 
The EU Media Relations & Communication Manager will be based in Brussels and will report to the Vice President for European Public Affairs and Communications.
 
Main responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of the Huawei Brussels media relations programme, including strategy, planning and implementation.
  • Ensure press activities align with overall communication efforts. 
  • Work with experts to ensure messaging can be understood by journalists and their readers within the European policy sphere.
  • Conceive, create and deliver at a high level of quality on all assigned communications outputs, including press releases, op-eds, fact sheets and briefing notes.
  • Effectively orchestrate face-to-face press activity such interviews and press conferences and briefings
  • Write, edit and publish all content for news section of Huawei website.
Requirements:
  • 5 years experience in well-known international companies as a public relations or media affairs manager or consultant, responsible for operations and media affairs of the company with the aim of providing high-level strategies and recommendations; 
  • University degree (communications, journalism) with a deep interest in the ICT industry;
  • Passionate about media relations with a strong news instinct, especially in the context of EU policy;
  • A track record of transforming technical topics into easier-to-read stories;
  • Excellent level of English (both spoken and written);
  • Working knowledge of web content management systems and related Internet tools would be an asset;
  • Keen interest in social media, especially Twitter;
  • Able to thrive in organisational complexity;
  • A team-player who can work independently, always seeking the best ways to communicate Huawei positions;
